Swedish Massage

This is a traditional Western relaxation massage where broad, rhythmic, gliding strokes, kneading, percussion and tapping techniques are used on the more superficial layers of muscles and fascia. This type of massage is recommended for clients seeking complete full-body relaxation and increased circulation.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension using slow strokes, direct pressure and friction. Deep pressure is administered to affect the sublayer of musculature and fascia that support muscle tissues and loosen bonds between the layers of connective tissues. Added attention is given to areas affected by overuse, fibrotic build-up, trigger-points and decreased circulation. Our therapists utilize cross-fiber techniques using movements directed across the grain of muscles. This approach is applied with greater pressure and at deeper layers of the muscle than Swedish Massage. Usually there are one to three target areas that will be worked on. The most commonly requested areas are neck, shoulders/upper traps, lower back, calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, and psoas. This type of massage is recommended for clients who seek therapy on specific target areas and who require more pressure than is typically applied during a Swedish Massage.

Postoperative Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

Postoperative manual lymphatic drainage therapy is a combination of gentle, rhythmic pumping strokes and scoops that expedite drainage and transport of an increased lymphatic load back into the venous blood circulation. When appropriate, deeper manual techniques are applied to help reduce fibrosis and uneven texture. Surgeries such as liposuction, fat transfers and tummy tucks introduce the body to significant tissue traumas. This service enhances and speeds up healing and recovery after plastic surgery procedures.

We recommend coming in for an introductory session to determine if our work meets your expectations and if so then starting a recovery regimen of two sessions per week for as long as swelling remains and one weekly session thereafter until fibrosis and uneven texture normalizes- we have seen very successful results for our clients in just the first month of MLD therapy.

Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage Therapy: Caring for Clients with Cancer is  offered by Phuong Tran, LMT. An oncology massage is a client-specific, customized massage session designed to meet the unique and changing needs of someone in treatment for cancer or with a history of cancer treatment. A safe massage plan generally revolves around the side effects (both short- and long-term) of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. After a thorough Oncology Intake Form is completed and, if necessary, consultation with a client's Oncologist/Physician, Phuong prepares the client for a specially-modified massage therapy session that, when necessary, includes bolstering for maximum comfort, carefully-monitored pressure application, hypoallergenic lotion  and heightened precautions for factors such as surgery, radiation, and mediport sites, deep vein thrombosis risks, compromised circulation, bone metastases, skin reactions to cancer treatment and so forth.

Oncology massage can provide a variety of positive effects from relaxation to scar tissue mobilization to pain reduction, but the anecdotal evidence suggests that there are many benefits beyond even these that are enjoyed by people  at all stages of the cancer journey.

Reflexology

The art of stimulating the body’s own healing forces by locating and stimulating certain points on the feet that affect organs or functions in distant parts of the body. Detects imbalance, congestion and inflammation and may help to send messages back to the brain to affect the areas by sending endorphins and more circulation to those areas. Our practitioners feel for inconsistencies such as knots, hard areas, swelling, crunchiness and sensitive spots.

During a foot reflexology session, the client remains fully-clothed and is comfortably positioned on a massage table. To begin the session, as the feet are soaking, a form of Chinese therapy called Tui-Na is performed. For 60  and 90 minute sessions, the main focus is on the feet but attention is also given to the hands, arms, legs, neck, shoulders and back.

This therapy is recommended for clients who suffer from tired, achy and overworked feet and for clients seeking to address conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, neuromas, fibromas, scar tissue, neuropathy and toe cramping.

We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing that allows full access to the lower legs, arms and neck/shoulders.

60 minutes (feet and full body fully-clothed) $100

75 minutes (feet and full body fully-clothed) $120

90 minutes (feet and full body fully-clothed) $140
